Fall 2012
Howard Schoenfeld '71, of DeWitt Ross & Stevens SC in Milwaukee, was named as one of the top 100 trial lawyers in Wisconsin by The National Trial Lawyers.
Hon. Timothy L. Vocke '73 was appointed to the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board. The G.A.B. is comprised of six members, all former state judges who must be non-partisan and is charged with the oversight of Wisconsin’s campaign finance, elections, ethics and lobbying laws.
Brent Smith '78 was elected president of the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents.

William K. Bortz '74 retired after practicing law for 38 years, specializing in employee benefits. He was a partner in the New York City office of the firm formerly known as Dewey Ballantine, and was in Washington, D.C. in the Office of Tax Policy of the U.S. Treasury Department.
Spring 2012
Seward M. Cooper ‘78 was appointed the legal adviser to the president of Liberia, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who is the first woman to be elected president of the African country. Cooper serves as a member of the president's cabinet.
Hon. Timothy L. Vocke '73 was appointed to the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board as one of the 6 former judges who make up the Board.
Fall 2011
Barbara (Taulborg) Portwood ‘79 recently received the Top Women in Finance Award from the Department of Finance and Commerce. The award honors outstanding efforts of women who are making notable contributions to their professions, their communities and society at large throughout Minnesota. Portwood is a shareholder at Leonard, Street and Deinard.
Donald Leo Bach ’74 of DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C. has received the Charles L. Goldberg Distinguished Service Award. The Goldberg Award recognizes the lifetime achievement of an individual in the legal profession with a record of service to the profession and to the public. It is named after the former State Bar president, a leader in launching free legal services to the poor.
Robert Simmons ’76 was recently elected and sworn in as the Mayor of Walnut Creek, CA.
Spring 2011
David P. Jendrzejek ’77 has
been Certified as a Labor and Employment Law Specialist by the Minnesota State
Bar Association. David is also Certified as a Civil Trial Specialist and
is one of only four attorneys in the State of Minnesota to be Certified in two
areas of law. Jendrzejek is a member of Moss & Barnett's litigation and
employment law practice areas.
Peter Christianson '77 of DeWitt Ross and Stevens' Government
Relations practice group in Madison Wisconsin has been appointed to the
University of Wisconsin-Madison Athletic Board. As a designated representative
of the Wisconsin Alumni Association, his term on the board will run four years.
Christianson served as Chair of the National Board of Directors of the
Wisconsin Alumni Association in 2009-2010.
Everett Harlan Aspenson '75, formerly of Gays Mills and Viroqua, died September 23, 2010 in Los Angeles, CA.
Louis B. Butler, Jr ‘77 has joined the Milwaukee office of
Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan LLP as a partner. Butler previously served as a as
a Senior Visiting Lecturer at Wisconsin Law School from 2008-2011 and was the
first African-American Justice to serve on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Daniel P. Anderson '73 has retired after serving for over 33
years as both a Circuit and Appellate Judge in the Wisconsin Court System.
Perry S. Granof ‘78 was recently appointed Chair-Elect of the
American Bar Association TIPS Professionals', Officers' and Directors' Liability
General Committee.
