Spring 2013 Gargoyle

The UW Law School is pleased to announce the publication of its spring 2013 alumni magazine, Gargoyle.

The spring issue profiles new programs and reports on alumni accomplishments.

Additionally, the issue includes the following feature articles:

  • Women in Law: Six UW Trailblazers
As alumna Tammy Baldwin, the state’s first female U.S. senator, returns to Washington, D.C., we pay tribute to our long tradition of pioneers who have blazed a trail for Wisconsin women in the legal profession. Six women are profiled — from our first female graduate to our first female dean.
  • William Shernoff ’62 Named Distinguished Alumnus
Widely recognized as the pioneer of bad-faith insurance law, William Shernoff’s landmark win on behalf of an injured roofer was just the beginning of a remarkable career.
  • Does the “I” Word Matter?
Our new Immigrant Justice Clinic director examines how words — like illegals, illegal immigrants, undocumented people, or aliens — affect perceptions of people and issues.
  • Jimmy Anderson: “I owe it to my family to prove that I can succeed”

A car accident changed Jimmy Anderson’s life forever. But this recent graduate is determined to succeed in legal practice, while raising awareness about the dangers of drunk driving.
