Each year, the Law School sponsors an on-campus recruitment program for second- and third-year law students, often referred to as OCI. Most years, more than 100 law firms and government agencies, and a few public interest employers and corporate legal departments, come from various cities around the country to conduct screening interviews of students for summer and permanent employment. Many employers are interested only in interviewing second-year law students for summer clerkship positions, because they usually fill their permanent hiring needs through their summer clerkship programs. However, a few employers will come here to interview only third year students, for permanent jobs. Other employers will allocate 75% of their interview slots to 2Ls, and 25% of their interview slots to 3Ls.
The first step to take, if you would like to participate in on-campus interviewing, is to review the information on this website, and the bright green, one-page calendar that is available in the Career Services Office, which includes important dates and deadlines. The whole process begins while you are still away for the summer -- for example, the first deadline for résumé submission and bidding is Sunday, August 9. What follows is a step-by-step explanation of the dates and deadlines that appear on the green calendar.
