Course Description

The course will emphasize the unique principles regarding the federal-trust relationship; the interplay among federal, state, and tribal jurisdictions; and tribal sovereignty. By examining the source and scope of federal, state and tribal authority in Indian Country, students shall gain an understanding of the basic underpinnings of federal Indian law. Students interested in receiving one (1) additional credit will write a paper on a book or set of articles after conferencing with the professor regarding an approved topic, as well as take a final examination.
