This course covers issues of choice of law, jurisdiction and recognition of judgments. It examines the varying laws that different states and the federal government use to resolve these questions.
The course also covers the U.S. approach to cases involving foreign choices of law, and to the recognition of foreign country judgments. A related problem are the bases for jurisdiction over events that happen outside U.S. national boundaries. Finally, we compare European laws on choice of law and recognition of judgments problems to the U.S. approaches. Satisfies Jurisdiction of Courts requirement.
