Course Description
This course will provide an introduction to energy law and regulation. It will provide an overview of the basic principles of rate regulation and public utilities, with an emphasis on electricity providers. While the workshop will include legal issues related to large-scale, public utility transmission and generation projects, the focus will be on special considerations for emerging renewable energy projects, such as wind, biomass, waste-to-energy and biogas generation facility development in Wisconsin. The course is offered for 2 or 3 credits. Students taking 2 credits will complete a 15-20 page paper; 3 credit, a 25-30 page paper.
