Categories: Constitutional Law

Instructor(s) Coan, Andrew

This course will examine various aspects of reproductive freedom in the United States from a legal, historical, and philosophical perspective.  The main focus will be on the Supreme Court's contraception, abortion, and sexual privacy decisions and their implications for emerging issues related to new technologies in assisted reproduction.  Specifically, we will investigate how and whether rights developed in the context of abortion and contraception should apply to new types of reproductive choices made possible by technological innovations in assisted reproduction.  Grades will be based on weekly response papers and class participation.
