Applying for Financial Assistance

LLM or SJD Students

New Students

Funds for graduate educational support are limited. Awards are made in exceptional cases and only of modest amount. Note that admission to the LLM or SJD program is separate from the request for financial assistance and admission to the LLM or SJD program does not guarantee financial support.

If you wish to be considered for financial assistance and you are a new student applying to the LLM or SJD program, you can indicate this on the second page of the application form. You will also need to include the following with your application materials:

  1. an additional letter in which you explain your request for financial assistance

  2. a complete financial request form detailing and documenting your situation and needs

Continuing Students

Funds for graduate educational support are limited. Awards are made in exceptional cases and only of modest amount. Awards are made on a year to year basis. Receiving an award in one year does not imply or guarantee that you will receive an award again. If you wish to be considered again for financial support, submit a new request with updated information. Mail or drop off the following materials to the Graduate Programs office so that we receive your request by April 1st:

  1. a letter to the Graduate Admissions Committee in which you explain your request for financial assistance. State in the letter all financial assistance that you are now receiving or previously have received for your studies at the Law School (regardless of the source)

  2. a complete financial request form detailing and documenting your situation and needs

  3. an updated resume

Please put these three items and your supporting documentation in an envelope. On the envelope, please write:

To the Graduate Programs Committee
