Midwest Law and Society Retreat

November 18-19, 2016

About this Event

The Institute for Legal Studies is pleased to announce the 8th Midwest Law and Society Retreat to be held at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on November 18-19, 2016. This biennial interdisciplinary retreat brings together faculty and graduate students from the region’s diverse social science and law programs for a weekend of intellectual exchange and community building. The 2016 Retreat will offer opportunities for participants to receive feedback on works-in-progress, discuss research methods and professional issues, and develop future projects with colleagues in the region. Participants are encouraged to submit proposals on topics relating to law and society or to just attend the Retreat to join in the discussion.

We are at capacity for presentations, and registration has closed. Please let us know if you want to attend without presenting or if you would like to be added to a wait list to present.

Contact ils@law.wisc.edu with any questions. Advance registration is required.

Location & Timeline: Sessions will take place at the Pyle Center (702 Langdon Street, Madison). On Friday, November 18th, registration starts at 2:30pm.  The Retreat will begin with a plenary address at 3:30 p.m. and end with post-dinner informal discussion sessions. Sessions will continue all day on Saturday, November 19th, ending at 5:00 p.m. A detailed program will be posted once we have finalized the panels.
