The Wisconsin Journal of Law, Gender & Society will host a symposium titled "Civil Rights in the Digital Age: Developing Effective Legal Responses to Cyber Sexual Harassment" on Friday, March 20.

The symposium addresses the rise in incidents of "revenge porn," in which sexually explicit media is shared online without consent of those involved, as well the recent rash of sexual assault cases that have been videotaped and distributed digitally. Leading legal scholars and practitioners, from Madison and around the country, will gather to examine effective responses to these new forms of cyber crime.

The Wisconsin Journal of Law, Gender & Society, established in 1985, is one of the earliest scholarly journals in the nation devoted to the study of women and the law. Each spring, journal staff organize a symposium on a timely and relevant topic.

The event takes place from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Lubar Commons at of Wisconsin Law School. Registration is free, but required.
