Students, faculty, staff, and alumni of the UW Law School have raised more than $4,600 to help one of their own recover from a tragic car accident.

Jimmy Anderson (Class of 2011) was seriously injured on Aug. 24 when the vehicle he and his family were riding in was hit by a van that had run a stop sign. Jimmy was the only survivor of the crash, which took the lives of his parents and his younger brother.

After the crash, UW's Student Bar Association committed its Dean's Cup fundraising efforts toward Jimmy's recovery, generating more than $3,000 in contributions. SBA raised another $170 from alumni and others during Homecoming Weekend, and other students and student organizations have contributed, as well:

  • The Latina/o Law Students Association raised $485 through a taco sale.

  • The newly formed Sports and Entertainment Law Society raised $440 through a silent auction.

  • Sweet Impressions bakery and confectioners, co-owned by law student Don Olsen, contributed one day's worth of profits, totaling more than $525.

SBA and others will continue their fundraising efforts. For more information about Jimmy and his recovery, you can join the Jimmy Anderson's Recovery Page group on Facebook.
