The University of Wisconsin Law School’s Mock Trial Team took 2nd place at the national California Attorneys for Criminal Justice (CACJ) Mock Trial Tournament held October 16-18 in Los Angeles California.  The team of Erica Christian (`08), Sam Kidd (`09), Scott Colom (`09), and Andrew Rima (`10) qualified for the semi-final round as the number one seed, a first for UW, and lost to Northwestern in the final round by one point.  This competition marked UW’s best ever finish at a national mock trial competition.  Special congratulations to Sam Kidd, who was awarded best advocate for the entire competition.  The CACJ Mock Trial Tournament drew thirty teams from law schools across the country, including Stanford, UCLA, Pepperdine, Florida State, and Massachusetts.

UW’s team of Andrew Wier, (`08), Erick Tyrone (`09), Jill Smith (`09), and Kristen Lonergan (`10) aggressively competed and were commended by judges for their outstanding performances.

Special thanks go to Ellen Berz from the Wisconsin Public Defenders Office and Rhonda Lanford from Habush, Habush & Rottier, who tirelessly coached and mentored both teams.
