UW Mock Trial finishes 2nd out of thirty; earns individual honors!

The University of Wisconsin Law School’s Mock Trial Team
took 2nd place at the national California Attorneys for Criminal
Justice (CACJ) Mock Trial Tournament held October 16-18 in Los
AngelesCalifornia.The team of Erica Christian (`08), Sam Kidd
(`09), Scott Colom (`09), and Andrew Rima (`10) qualified for the semi-final
round as the number one seed, a first for UW, and lost to Northwestern in the
final round by one point.This competition
marked UW’s best ever finish at a national mock trial competition.Special congratulations to Sam Kidd, who was
awarded best advocate for the entire competition.The CACJ Mock Trial Tournament drew thirty
teams from law schools across the country, including Stanford, UCLA, Pepperdine,
Florida State, and Massachusetts.
UW’s team of Andrew Wier, (`08), Erick Tyrone (`09), Jill
Smith (`09), and Kristen Lonergan (`10) aggressively competed and were
commended by judges for their outstanding performances.
Special thanks go to Ellen Berz from the Wisconsin Public
Defenders Office and Rhonda Lanford from Habush, Habush & Rottier, who tirelessly
coached and mentored both teams.
