Lane Powell, a law firm of more than 180 lawyers with offices in the Pacific Northwest, has just announced this year's George V. Powell Scholarship Program. The George V. Powell Scholar will be a 2007 summer associate in the firm's Seattle or Portland office and receive a $6,000 scholarship toward tuition and expenses during the student's third year of law school. Candidates must be second-year students in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school. Candidates in four-year joint degree programs will be considered after their third year. The firm is seeking candidates who will contribute meaningfully to the diversity of the legal community and who have a demonstrated desire to work, live, and eventually practice law in Seattle or Portland. The firm will also consider each candidate's academic achievements and record of leadership abilities, community service, and involvement in community activities. Instructions on how to apply are available in the Career Services Office. All application materials must be postmarked by October 1, 2006, to be considered for the 2007 Program.
