First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is observed every April to promote the important contributions made by all types of libraries across the country.   Take a quick break from your work and join the staff of the UW Law Library as we celebrate NLW April 9-15.  Here is what we have planned this year:

Our first event of the week is always one of the most popular. Our book give-away starts on Monday, April 10 at 10:00 a.m., giving all of our “gently used” law books a chance to find a new home. Browse the FREE selection of casebooks, study guides, and other legal titles too good to discard, located right next to the reference desk.

Wednesday, April 12 features the triumphant return of our annual trivia contest. Match your trivia skills against law students and staff in the Law School Atrium from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.  The question categories range from sports to movies to geography. Bloomberg Law and Westlaw are generously providing the prizes, while Lexis will supply the pizza. All free, and all fun!

Throughout the week, faculty, staff and students can bring in a favorite book and pose for their very own READ poster.  It's a unique and popular way to show off your literary favorites! Stop by the circulation desk Monday, April 10 to Thursday, April 14 between 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the staff will gladly create a poster with you...for free!

Need to brush up on your Bluebooking skills as the Write-on approaches? Never fear, a skilled Librarian can help with that! Attend the Bluebooking Session on Friday, April 14th in room 3250 at 11 a.m. to become a better Bluebooker!

If you are in need of a great book for your summer reading or just to read something new, check out the great books that were suggested this year by UW Law Faculty and Staff on our website: http://law.wisc.libguides.com/NLW2017. The picks will be displayed on the digital sign near the circulation desk as well as on the Law Library’s website throughout National Library Week.

Finally, the 2017 Faculty Read poster will be officially revealed on Friday, April 15th. It will be displayed at the entrance of the Law Library throughout the next year before being moved into the Library. You can view our entire collection of Faculty Read Posters on our Pinterest Page. The Read Posters, a tradition since 2006, are a wonderful collection of NLW portraits that now enhance the walls of the Law Library.

We hope you enjoy these National Library Week events. Most importantly, remember that the Law Library is here year-round to help you with research, questions, locate materials, and much more. Happy National Library Week!
