The number of self-represented litigants is steadily increasing in Dane County. In some areas, as many as 70% of cases involve pro se litigants.

The Dane Co. Legal Resource Center provides research assistance for many pro se litigants, but budget cuts are jeopardizing their ability to provide needed materials.

Therefore, the Dane County Bar Association and the DCLRC are holding a book sale to try to raise enough money to purchase another year’s subscription to Shepards. The sale will be held on May 2nd at the Dane County Courthouse.

In order to hold the sale, they are looking for donations of gently-used recreational books. All genres are welcome, including contemporary fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, cookbooks, and more.

In celebration of National Library Week, donations will be accepted in the Law Library all week, April 11-15, 2011.
