Job Title:  High School Law Internship Instructor

Employer:  UW-Madison PEOPLE Program

Job Description:  The PEOPLE Program is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic instructor to teach a summer-long Law Internship Workshop.  The program serves students from the State of Wisconsin that will be entering the 12th grade.  The Law Internship Workshop is designed to give students a general overview of the legal process and life at law school.  Students will meet with attorneys and other legal professionals to gain an understanding of the various legal fields.  In addition, students will further develop their written and oral communication skills through writing assignments, debates and a mock trial. 

Workshop instructors are expected to:

·        Design daily lesson plans and curriculum

·        Provide a hands-on engaging experience that introduces students to this field

·        Instructors will be required to submit a planning packet that outlines field trip information, guest speakers, syllabus, and supplies (all expenses covered by the program)

·        Each instructor will be responsible for reserving room space

 

Internship Dates:  Wednesday, June 25- Thursday, July 31
 

Compensation:  This is a 75% appointment ($2467) with a tuition remission.

Job Description:  The PEOPLE Program is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic instructor to teach a three-week “Law and Your Life” workshop.  The program serves students from the Madison Metropolitan School District that will be entering the 7th, 8th and 9th grades.  The program is designed as a pre-college pipeline to prepare underrepresented students (African American, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian American, Chicano/a, Puerto Rican, Latino/a and low income) for higher education, with emphasis on attending UW-Madison. 

Workshop instructors are expected to:

·        Design daily lesson plans and curriculum

·        Provide a hands-on engaging experience that introduces students to this field

·        Coordinate workshops that will include hands-on activities, guest speakers from the legal field, field trips and final display for the end program exhibition

·        Instructors will be required to submit a planning packet that outlines field trip information, guest speakers, syllabus, and supplies (all expenses covered by the program)

·        Each instructor will receive the assistance of two undergraduate Teaching Assistants to help facilitate the program. 

 

Workshop Dates:  Monday, June 15- Friday, July 3

Compensation:  $2000
