Reginald Thedford

Reginald Thedford, a third-year UW Law student, has been named a 2018 Madison Fellow by the New Leaders Council Institute.

Thedford founded Law And Advocacy for Racial Justice (LAARJ) at the Law School last year. He is a former student attorney for the Oxford Federal Clinic. Last summer, Thedford interned for the Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta, Georgia, where he worked on felony disenfranchisement policy issues, conducted jail condition investigations, and provided parole representation. He serves as the attorney general for the Midwest Black Law Students Association.

As an undergraduate at Eastern Illinois University, Thedford began a campaign to prevent campus sexual assault, an effort for which he continues to advocate.

The New Leaders Council Institute is a leadership training program for young progressives. NLC–Wisconsin's Institutes in both Milwaukee and Madison combines a rigorous, skill-based curriculum with insight and coaching from Wisconsin's progressive leaders.
