Karen Bassler, a rising second-year University of Wisconsin Law student, is one of three law students nationally to win a John J. Curtin Jr. Fellowship for Summer 2019.

The fellowship, which is managed by the American Bar Association’s Commission on Homelessness and Poverty, provides stipends for law students who have taken summer internships in public interest law.

Bassler is working in the Dane County Eviction Defense Program at Legal Action of Wisconsin this summer. The selection committee praised her commitment to public interest work and the quality of her internship program at Legal Action of Wisconsin.
