David Susens

Biography

David Susens is a Clinical Instructor with the Criminal Appeals Project at the Frank J. Remington Center and teaches Advanced Criminal Procedure: Representing the Criminal Appellant. David also works full-time as an Assistant State Public Defender in the Wisconsin State Public Defender's Madison Appellate office. His practice involves postconviciton and appellate litigation in Wisconsin circuit courts, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, and the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

David has worked in both the trial and appellate divisions of the Wisconsin State Public Defender's office for several years. Before that, he was a public defender in Hood River, OR. David received his J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School and B.A. in history and economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In law school he competed in the Jessup International Law Moot Court, worked at the Juvenile Rights Project, and was an active member of the National Lawyers Guild.
