Biography

Michael True is a partner at Schuster Family Law in Madison, Wisconsin, where he practices in representing individuals in matters effecting the family, including divorce, child custody and placement, legal separation, paternity, adoption, marital property agreements, and parent-like visitation rights.  He also serves as a court appointed Guardian ad Litem (GAL) and as a private mediator in cases involving the above matters.  Before joining Schuster Family Law, he was an associate attorney at Murphy Desmond, SC, focusing his practice on litigation in both State and Federal Courts, as well as family law.  Prior to moving to Madison in 2010, Michael practiced in Chicago, Illinois, and his practice included criminal law and business transaction and litigation work in both State and Federal Courts.

Before entering law school, Michael was an officer in the U.S. Army, worked as a counselor/teacher for an outdoor wilderness program for troubled youth, and as a social security disability determiner for the State of Kentucky.

Since moving to Madison in 2010, Michael has been very involved in the community, and has served on several boards, including Literacy Network, Madison South Rotary Club, Dane Buy Local, and Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin.  He is also a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, Dane County Bar Association, and American Inns of Court – James E. Doyle Chapter.

Michael earned a B.S. in Criminal Science from the University of Dayton, and graduated with honors from the DePaul University College of Law.
