Robert E. Shumaker is a shareholder and Co-Chair of the Litigation Practice Group of DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C. Mr. Shumaker has represented clients ranging from individuals to major publicly owned corporations regarding a wide variety of matters. In particular, he has extensive experience resolving business, employee benefits, and employment disputes.

Mr. Shumaker received his BS, with distinction, in 1976, and his MS in 1983. Prior to attending law school he was a secondary school social studies teacher for seven years. He graduated, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1986. He is a member of the Order of the Coif, and, while in law school, he served as the Senior Articles Editor of the Wisconsin Law Review and as a legal writing instructor.

Mr. Shumaker is a member of the bar of the Wisconsin and is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western District of Wisconsin, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the litigation, appellate, labor and employment, and health care sections of the Wisconsin Bar Association, and the litigation, labor, tort and insurance law, and health care sections of the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the Dane County, Western District of Wisconsin, and Seventh Circuit Bar Associations.

In addition to other civic and professional activities, Mr. Shumaker is currently a member of the Board of Governors of the Western District of Wisconsin Bar Association and a member of the Village of Maple Bluff Parks and Recreation Committee.
