Biography

Jonathan Schuster is a partner with Axley Brynelson, LLP and a member of the firm's Business Practice Group.  He practices in the areas of corporate law and corporate finance and securities.  Mr. Schuster has represented investors and publicly and privately-held companies in a broad range of complex business transactions, including securities offerings, private equity/venture capital financings, joint ventures, recapitalizations and mergers and acquisitions.  He advises issuers and underwriters on the offering of securities under the Securities Act of 1933, reporting companies on compliance with the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and broker-dealers, investment companies and investment advisors on regulatory matters.

Prior to practicing law, Mr. Schuster was an Associate Analyst in the Milwaukee office of an investment bank, providing equity research and analyzing companies in the consumer, healthcare and technology distribution industries. In addition, he was a consultant in the Chicago office of IPC Group, LLC (n/k/a CRA International, Inc.), providing economic, financial and strategic advisory services related to intellectual property, complex commercial disputes and business valuations.

Mr. Schuster is a member of several legal, finance and accounting organizations, including the Wisconsin Bar Association, CFA Institute and the Institute of Management Accountants, and is the Past President of the CFA Society of Madison. He holds several professional credentials, including the CFA, CPA, CMA and CFM designations.  He is an adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin Law School where he teaches the course on securities regulation.  In 2005, Mr. Schuster was recognized as a leading lawyer in securities law by Madison Magazine.  In 2006, he was named to the list of Wisconsin leading lawyers by Law & Politics Media, Inc. for his work in business/corporate law.

Mr. Schuster received his B.B.A. (with honors and distinction), M.B.A., and J.D., magna cum laude, degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
