Middle Eastern Law Students Association (MELSA)

The Middle Eastern Law Students Association seeks to promote greater understanding of Middle Eastern cultures, politics and legal institutions. The group is designed to serve as a discussion forum for students of Middle Eastern descent as well as those interested in the region to exchange ideas and opinions. MELSA hosts a variety of educational events including, colloquia, political discussions, and documentary and other films highlighting the social and political dynamics of the Middle East. MELSA also hosts a number of social outings including dinners and parties featuring Middle Eastern cuisine and music. The group welcomes anyone with an interest in the Middle East to join.

ELECTIONS on Tuesday, April 23, 6:30 PM RM 3250

Elections will be held for the following positions:
  • President
  • VP of Academic Affairs
  • VP of Community Affairs
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Community Service Liaison
  • LEO Representative
Membership participation in elections is crucial to a strong organization, so please show your support for the candidates, or run for a position yourself!

Specific information regarding how to run for an office will be released immediately after the LEO Banquet.  For now, mark your calendars.  And yes, there will be no shortage of food.

MELSA represents at Wisconsin International Law Journal!

Special congratulations to MELSA members Hooma Shah, Abdul Mitha, and Roya Hajbandeh.

Hooma and Abdul were elected to the Senior Board – Hooma as Editor-in-Chief and Abdul as Senior Note and Comment Editor.  Also, Hooma and Roya’s articles were selected for publication in next year’s issues!

Be sure to congratulate them for their accomplishments!
