Course Description

Development of the modern civil action including pleading, discovery, and the pretrial conference; the trial; motions after verdict and judgment; appeals; state and federal procedures.

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

• Describe how a civil action progresses and what procedural rules apply at each step;
• Think strategically about how to use procedural rules;
• Identify and assess strengths and weaknesses of our civil litigation system.
