Course Description

This course focuses on preparing a student to prepare and try a case, particularly a jury trial. Through the use of case files and assigned problems, students will do voir dire of juries, direct and cross-examination of witnesses, opening and closing statements. Students will also prepare and conduct a mock jury trial.

Learning Outcomes – At the end of this course, students will be able to:
1. Articulate plaintiff and defense theories of the case
2. Summarize the evidence that will be presented on each side of the case
3. Present opening and closing statements for each side
4. Conduct direct and cross examinations of witnesses
5. Raise and effectively argue evidentiary points as required throughout the trial proceedings
6. Do all things necessary to conduct a full run-through of the Mock Trial
