Course Description

This new mediation course will feature
active participation/simulation and discussion to understand (1) why people
disagree, (2) how opposing parties move toward consensus, and (3) factors
behind the behavior that produces mediated resolution. The negotiation process
inevitably will be part of that conversation. This 2-credit, limited enrollment, pass/fail course will involve
in-class quizzes, writing assignments and in class speaking and simulation
performance.  A passing grade will require class participation, completion
of all assignments, regular class attendance and participation in a final
mediation simulation which must be scheduled outside regular class meetings.
