UW Law School students traveled to Vienna, Austria, in March to participate in the 23rd Willem C. Vis International Arbitration Moot competition, the largest competition of its kind.

Casaundra Lucille, Maro Kim, Julia Wells and Bethany Wilson represented the Law School against more than 2,000 competitors representing 311 schools in 67 countries. Lucille won an honorable mention in the Martin Domke Award for Individual Oralists.

Professor Jason Yackee is the faculty advisor for the Law School’s Vis Moot program. Third-year law students Sydney Adams and Caleb Saunders served as coaches for this year’s team.

The goal of Vis Moot competition is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration for the resolution of international business disputes and to train future lawyers in methods of alternative dispute resolution.
