UW Law School graduates are using their legal educations to make a difference all around Wisconsin. In turn, Wisconsin’s communities have shared inspiration, energy and essential resources with the university.

This partnership — highlighted in the UW’s comprehensive campaign slogan “Boundless Together” — is nothing new. The founders of Wisconsin and its university saw the school and the state as inextricably linked. In 1904, UW president Charles Van Hise gave voice to this principle, called the Wisconsin Idea, stating that he would “never be content until the beneficent influence of the university reaches every family in the state.”

Here are five uniquely Wisconsin stories of that innovation and inspiration that feature UW Law alumni.
