Kathleen Brost of Neenah said she looks forward to helping Wisconsin lawyers in their careers.

April 26, 2019 – Kathleen Brost of Legacy Privacy Trust Company, Neenah, is the next president-elect of the State Bar of Wisconsin.

In the elections ending April 26, 2019, Brost defeated Grant Birtch of von Briesen & Roper, S.C., Neenah, by 2,193 votes to 2,014.

Brost will serve a one-year term as president-elect beginning July 1, before succeeding Jill M. Kastner of Milwaukee as State Bar president on July 1, 2020.

Brost, a 1992 U.W. Law School alum, currently serves on the State Bar Board of Governors and the Solo/Small Firm & General Practice Section Board, and is a member of the Wisconsin Solo/Small Firm Conference Planning Committee.

Brost said she is deeply honored to be elected, and looks forward to working with Kastner.

The State Bar’s role, she said, is as an advocate for the profession and for the public's access to justice. The State Bar must provide its members with the tools, resources, and support they need to tackle the challenges of practicing law.

Brost said that, in meeting attorneys across the state over the past few months, she found that many are not aware of all the services and benefits the State Bar can provide.

“I am looking forward to increasing awareness of the State Bar’s services, to help attorneys be more profitable and effective, and as a result, less stressed,” Brost said.
