Friday, April 6

Room 5350 (library study room)

Dr. Hanson will also offer one-on-one appointments to assist students with creating their loan repayment action plan. This is an invaluable opportunity to further explore your loan repayment options with an expert in the field.

To maximize the value of the one-on-one session, you are required to bring a printed copy of your federal student loan summary and loan details from the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS)--a confidential database maintained by the U.S. Department of Education. Simply go the www.nslds.ed.gov and follow the directions for logging into your Financial Aid Review. The NSLDS information will be used to review the current loan holder and servicer information for each of your federal student loans, the current amount you owe on each loan (including accrued interest), and to provide an estimate of the minimum monthly payment that will be required under each of the federal student loan repayment options for which you qualify based on your current federal student loan debt. Do not download the "Student Data Download" data file that is available. Just print out the home page of the "Financial Aid Review" showing your loan summary.

You also may want to bring a printed copy of a recent redit report to the appointment if you have other consumer debt such as private student loans or credit card debt. The credit report information will allow you to more fully discuss options for repaying any private students loans you have borrowed as well as to evaluate your overall indebtedness so that a strategy can be suggested for managing repayment of that debt in the context of repaying your federal student loans. You can obtain a free copy of your credit report once every 12 months from each of the three national consumer reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion) at www.AnnualCreditReport.com.
