Event Description

OCPD’s networking trip to the Fox River Valley will be September 27. This trip is valuable to all class years. 1Ls, this is the time to start building your network and learning about opportunities! 2Ls, this is your one and only chance to take this trip, as it is every other year. 3Ls, several of the firms we will visit have hired recent grads in the past. In previous years we visited such places as Kimberly-Clark's legal department, Thrivent Financial, Menn Law Firm and McCarty Law firms. Confirmed employers will be updated here.

Please RSVP in Symplicity as soon as possible as space is limited! Transportation will be provided and we will leave the law school at 7:30 a.m.

A current student who took the trip its first year provided the following testimonial: “The Fox River Valley trip was my first OCPD event. I have attended a few others as well, but I still think the Fox River Valley trip was the most valuable to me. I got an excellent view of options outside big firms in Madison and Milwaukee. We toured a few small/medium firms, and those offices gave a good picture of what a day in their practice looks like. The firms in Appleton didn't put on a show, so I got a good idea of what it would be like to work in their office. We also spoke to a few companies' in-house counsel. Kimberly-Clark's in-house counsel gave a brief overview of their role in the company as well as free samples of Kimberly-Clark products. In-house counsel does not do what I expected. We toured Thrivent Financial, and their in-house counsel gave us very direct answers to somewhat taboo questions like salary. Touring Thrivent's campus was a very interesting experience. I was exposed to a lot of opportunities that exist outside law firms. I also learned that the Wisconsin legal community offers a lot of good opportunities outside Madison and Milwaukee.”
