Event Description
The State Democracy Research Initiative, in collaboration with the Elections Research Center, invite you to attend our panel on state judicial elections, to be held at the University of Wisconsin Law School. The February primary and April general election in Wisconsin for the open State Supreme Court seat will be very high stakes, affecting a variety of pertinent issues related to redistricting and democracy. But why are Wisconsin court seats elected in the first place? Are judicial elections prone to the same pitfalls as political ones? Our panelists will aim to situate the election in the broader context of the role of judicial elections, the effects of polarization, and the information that judicial campaigns convey.
