Justice Shirley Abrahamson (S.J.D. '62), the longest serving state Supreme Court justice in the country, was honored at the Wisconsin State Capitol Tuesday at a ceremony that included tributes from Gov. Tony Evers, former Gov. Jim Doyle, and former Wisconsin justices Diane Sykes and Janine Geske. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the U.S. Supreme Court, presented a videotaped message.

The event, organized by University of Wisconsin Law School, Marquette Law School and the State Bar of Wisconsin, recognized Abrahamson's 42 years of service to the court. She is set to retire next month.
