Biography

Anne Smith is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School. She was a co-founder of the Law & Entrepreneurship Clinic at the UW Law School. Before joining the Law School, she was the General Counsel for Winterthur U.S. Holdings, Inc., a U.S. insurance holding company owned by Winterthur Swiss Insurance Company and Credit Suisse; and later became General Counsel for Promega Corporation a global life sciences company. Her practice focused on general corporate law and mergers and acquisitions. Anne was a founding member of the StartingBlock Madison Board of Directors. StartingBlock is an entrepreneurial hub. She also co-founded of Madison Seed Accelerator, an early stage acceleator that helps startup companies develop good governance practices.  She is active on nonproft and for profit boards.
