Alexa Baltodano
Alexa graduated with honors from the University of Southern California with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Architecture. Prior to law school Alexa worked in small business accounting in Santa Monica. Alexa is a third-year law student focusing on business law and federal taxation. She is a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and the Business and Tax Law Association. Last summer Alexa was a judicial intern to Justice Ziegler in the Wisconsin Supreme Court. In addition to her legal studies Alexa enjoys running, hiking and beach volleyball.
Felice Borisy-Rudin
Felice holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a B.S. in Biology from Caltech. Felice is a third year law student with special interests in patent law, emerging biomedical technologies, and health law. Pursuing this interest, she has taken courses in: Administrative Law, Antitrust, Business Organizations, Health Law & Administration, Intellectual Property, Patent Law and Tax Law. Felice has interned at Clean Wisconsin and at the Center for Patient Partnerships and is a Managing Editor for the Wisconsin Law Review. Felice is currently serving her third term as Trustee for the Village of Shorewood Hills. She enjoys long walks, science fiction and spending time with her family and friends.
Jason Foster
Jason hails from the Chicago and Milwaukee areas. He is a third-year law student whose primary legal and business interests are entrepreneurship, taxation, intellectual property, and finance. Following law school, Jason hopes to continue working with small to mid-sized businesses that focus on social entrepreneurship. Currently, Jason coaches for the UW Law School's Moot Court Board and serves as student ambassador for the admissions office. In his free time, Jason enjoys engaging in politics and news, watching documentaries, and listening to live music. He especially enjoys supporting local businesses of all sorts. Before law school, Jason attended theater school and also worked in the legal services sector. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with Comprehensive Honors in Philosophy, with Distinction, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Peter Helf
Peter graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2007 with a Masters in Accounting and passed the CPA exam for the state of Illinois in 2008. Since leaving his job as an auditor for KPMG in Chicago, he worked at three different law firms doing work in diverse fields ranging from bankruptcy to real estate to criminal defense. Peter looks forward to using his business expertise to help the clinic with issues in entity formation and intellectual property as well as any other issues that may arise. Peter will be clerking for Justice Annette Ziegler at the Wisconsin Supreme Court in the fall. Outside of law school, he is training for his third marathon in the fall and spending hours at the dog park with his golden retriever, Keller.
Anamarie Jezo
Anamarie graduated from Carthage College (Kenosha, WI) with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and minors in Psychology and Spanish. She is a third year law student focusing on business law with particular interests in entity formation and tax issues. Anamarie is a managing editor on the Wisconsin Law Review, a former competitor and current coach on the Moot Court Board, a Mock Trial team member, and member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. Outside of the law school, she enjoys singing and listening to music, attending many of the fine arts events Madison has to offer.
Nathan Koehn
Nathan graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a master’s degree in Accounting, with a finance emphasis. He is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Wisconsin. Prior to law school, Nathan was an Audit Senior at Deloitte & Touche LLP, where he provided a variety of assurance and attestation services to clients located throughout the Midwest. During his second year of law school, Nathan worked as a Student Attorney at the Frank J. Remington Center. Nathan plans to begin the Corporate Finance & Investment Banking MBA program at the Wisconsin School of Business in Fall 2011. Nathan enjoys playing golf and volleyball, snowboarding, and traveling to beach destinations.
Zack Lackey
Zack graduated from the University of Michigan with a BSE in Industrial & Operations Engineering. Before law school, he worked as a process engineer and project manager for a Detroit-based automotive supplier. Zack is currently a third year law student with an interest in business law and intellectual property. As a law student, Zack is involved with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program and the Wisconsin Journal of Law, Gender & Society. Zack has also worked for the last two summers as a law clerk for Hurley McKenna & Mertz PC in Chicago.
Bao-Kim Le
Bao-Kim Le graduated from Universite Paris l Pantheon Sorbonne, France in Business Law and Economics. After graduating, she has been doing internships in the legal departments of french firms such as L'Oreal Paris or Hermes, especially in Corporate Law. Actually, she is a MLI LLM student at UW Madison Law School. She would like to specialize in Federal Taxation. In her free time, she likies to practice yoga, cook, read and travel.
James Leonard
Hailing from a small town of Bad Axe, Michigan, James is a Chemist gone law. A graduate from the University of Michigan with a BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Spanish. James then attended the University of Florida and earned his Doctorate in Organic Chemistry and his Masters in Pharmacy. Serving as President of the Intellectual Property Students Organization (IPSO) and the Latino Law Students Association (LLSA), he is actively engaged in the law school community.
Laura McCabe
Laura graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a degree in Marketing and History. Laura is a third year law student focusing on business law. Laura previously worked with Judge Vergeront at the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. She also worked for a number of years with a sole practitioner and is familiar with problems facing small practices. She is the president of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity - the largest student organization at the University of Wisconsin Law School. In her free time, Laura enjoys playing soccer and board games, reading, swimming, and eating cheese.
Brian McCall
Brian McCall graduated from University of Wisconsin - Madison with a BS degree in chemical engineering. As an undergrad, he built a prototype when he entered the Schoofs competition. After graduation, he joined Teach for America and taught math in Oakland, CA for five years. He worked with internet start-up Brightstorm.com, producing three rounds of online educational courses. Brian hopes to work in intellectual property after graduation, but he is also passionate about start-up businesses. He is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. When he is not working, you can find Brian outside golfing, hiking or playing any sport with a ball or disc.
Brannon Morisoli
Brannon holds a Bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric, Oceanic Science, and Environmental Science from UCLA, and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. Between undergraduate and graduate school, he worked for a Biotech startup, a mortgage bank, and a privately owned pharmacy. While at the University of Notre Dame, Brannon was Co-President of the Investments Club which actively managed an equities portfolio for the school's endowment. The summer between his first and second years of business school, Brannon passed level 1 of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and was a summer associate for a global-macro hedge fund. Brannon is interested in both the legal and business aspects of early and mid-stage equity financings, and especially in emerging companies in high-growth sectors. In addition to his current employment and legal studies, Brannon enjoys visiting MLB parks throughout the country, attending Notre Dame and Badger football games, and visiting his family in Southern California.
Sartouk Moussavi
Sartouk graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Electrical Engineering. After school, he started a business managing music artists, and later worked as a Product Manager for a tech startup in Southern California. These experiences have exposed him to various issues entrepreneurs are often faced with - from protecting intellectual property, to operating with limited resources, to developing new skills to handle arising issues, to managing different people and projects. He hopes these skills will help him better understand and serve Law and Entrepreneurship Clinic clients. In addition to his legal studies, Sartouk enjoys music, playing basketball and soccer, and reading history and politics.
Kyle Nakatsuji
Kyle is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, with a degree in Political Science. He is currently in his fourth year and final year of Wisconsin’s JD/MBA program with focuses on Business Law, Finance, and Supply Chain Management, and Entrepreneurship. He is a member of the Business and Tax Law Association and the University of Wisconsin Entrepreneurship Association. Kyle is interested in both the legal and business aspects of equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, and emerging companies in high-growth sectors. Since joining the Clinic in Fall 2010, Kyle has helped clients with issues including entity formation, capital raising, securities law, and licensing. Outside of school, Kyle enjoys playing football, boxing, reading, and playing video games.
Bert Novak
Bert graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business where he double majored in Entrepreneurship and Risk Management and Insurance. Prior to attending college, he founded Novak Custom Homes, a small construction company in the Chicago area. He is currently a second-year law student and is interested in business law, specifically contracts, taxation, real estate, and bankruptcy. Bert is excited to be working at the Law & Entrepreneurship Clinic and is looking forward to helping people and businesses in Wisconsin with the many important legal issues that they face during the start-up and growth stages.
Scott Olson
Scott is a graduate of University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a degree in History and a minor in Political Science. He is a second year law student pursuing a concentration in Real Estate and a Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship. Prior to attending law school, Scott founded two retail businesses and a software and data services firm, all located in Eau Claire, WI. Scott is a member of the Executive Board of the University of Wisconsin Law School’s Sports & Entertainment Law Society. In his free time, Scott enjoys playing softball, watching baseball and football, reading, boating, and cooking.
Ian Prust
Ian graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a degree in Crop and Soil Science. Prior to attending law school, he attended graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the Plant Breeding/Plant Genetics program. Ian is currently a third-year law student. As a law student, he has worked in the Family Court Assistance Project, and been active in many student organizations, including Environmental Law Society, National Lawyers Guild, and the Middle Eastern Law Student Association. Ian’s legal interests include agribusiness and tax law. His general interests include sustainability, food, and environmental issues. Outside of the law school, Ian is an avid cyclist, gardener, and Brewer and Badger fan.
Katie Rahlin
Katie graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a BS in Chemical Biological Engineering and a minor in Biology. Katie is a third year law student interested in intellectual property. This past summer, she interned at Kinney & Lange, P.A. in Minneapolis where she worked on patent drafting, office actions, and search projects. She is an articles editor for the Wisconsin Law Review and is actively involved in the Intellectual Property Student Organization as well as the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. In her free time, Katie loves to play tennis, ski, hike, and travel.
Francisco R. Riojas
Francisco graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a degree in computer science. After graduation he was commissioned as a naval officer and spent the next seven years in the U.S. Navy. He is a third-year law student and his primary legal interests are intellectual property, entrepreneurship, international law, and privacy. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Wisconsin International Law Journal and spent one summer working in immigration law in private law.
Erik Splett
Erik graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College (St. Peter, MN) in 2008 with a degree in Communication Studies. He is a third-year law student at the UW Law School with a concentration and interest in Business Law. Pursuing this interest, he has taken courses including: Business Organizations I and II, Tax I and II, and International Business Transactions. He has interned with the Dane County District Court and the City of Madison Attorney's Office. Outside of class and the clinic, Erik enjoys playing and watching all sports, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Lindsey Thompson
Lindsey graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Biology, and did her graduate studies in Molecular Biology and Genetics at the University of Freiburg. Prior to coming to law school, she worked for Mayo Clinic developing potential cancer treatments. She is a second-year law student at the UW-Madison. Lindsey's legal interests include intellectual property, and tax law. In her free time, she enjoys Lindy Hopping, teaching German, canoeing, hiking and gardening.
Jacob Wilson
Jacob graduated from the University of Memphis with a degree in Management Information Systems(MIS). Prior to entering law school, Jacob interned at a non-partisan think tank in Washington D.C., subsequently gaining employment with a Virginia based technology Consultant Company specializing in providing services to government contractors. During law school, Jacob interned with the local Madison firm Krekeler Strother, S.C., focusing on consumer litigation. Outside of the law school, Jacob enjoys sports, specifically soccer and tennis.
