University of Wisconsin Law School is accepting applications for the LSAC DiscoverLaw.org Pre-Law Undergraduate Scholars (PLUS) Program, a summer immersion experience for students who have completed their freshman or sophomore year of college.

The DiscoverLaw.org PLUS Program is designed to improve access to legal education for students from historically underrepresented groups and socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. This is the second summer UW Law has offered an exploratory pre-law program.

Approximately 25 scholars will be selected to spend four weeks in Madison — from June 5 through June 30 — to learn about legal education and careers in law. They receive tuition, room and board on the UW–Madison campus for the duration of the program, and a $1,000 stipend.

Guided by a team of UW Law experts, scholars will develop oral and written legal advocacy skills, get advice on applying to law school, network with local practitioners, and learn about areas of legal practice. UW Law faculty teach introductory courses, featuring the Law School’s law-in-action approach to legal education.

This year’s program is funded by the Law School Admission Council, which created DiscoverLaw.org to encourage racially and ethnically diverse students to discover career opportunities in law and choose a path in undergraduate school to help them succeed.
