Event Description
Prof. Pilar Ossorio and a panel of experts present a free webinar addressing ethical concerns related to the development and distribution of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Questions to explore:
- Can we justify intentionally exposing humans to infection to rapidly test a potential vaccine?
- How can we reconcile the need for fast vaccine development with an ethical and rigorous scientific process?
- How can we distribute the vaccine fairly in the likely event that the number of initial doses cannot meet demand? Who gets the vaccine first?
- How can officials maintain trust with the public during distribution?
Join Prof. Ossorio, Jonathan Kimmelman (McGill University), and Seema Shah (Northwestern University) to hear more on these topics, followed by a live Q&A session.
The event is hosted by UW's Morgridge Institute for Research.
