The first few days of law school set the tone for what’s to come. That’s why the programming for UW Law orientation includes giving back to the community through service. It’s an important aspect to being a UW law student — and a lawyer.

On August 28, incoming UW Law School students participated in Community Service Day, an annual day of volunteering with local nonprofit agencies.

As part of orientation week, the event is designed to connect new students’ educational experience to public service, while giving them a chance to get to know each other.

Students volunteering in this year’s Community Service Day pulled weeds, made blankets for children in need, painted and cleaned, among other activities.

The Law School partnered with seven Madison-area agencies for the event:
