The Dane County Bar Association sponsors a Family Law Assistance Center (FLAC) at the Courthouse on Wednesday afternoons, from 11:30 - 1:30. FLAC serves low income people who need assistance with their family law matters. They receive free assistance (not representation) from volunteer attorneys in the community. FLAC is looking to fill shifts with Spanish-speakers to act as interpreters for attorneys and consumers beginning in January and continuing throughout the year. However you will only need to volunteer for 1 or 2 shifts. If you are fluent in Spanish and interested in signing up to volunteer for a shift (or if you have any questions), please contact Marsha Mansfield. (mmmansfied@wisc.edu). A knowledge of family law is not required but you will receive a brief training before you participate in the program.
