Program Overview
The term and internal sequence of the Hastie Fellowship Program are designed to accommodate the needs for intensive research and writing, gaining teaching experience and entering the legal teaching job market.
Hastie Fellows will be appointed for a term of two years. Fellows are required to be in residence in Madison with a commitment to participating fully in the life of the Law School.
The first year of the program is devoted primarily to scholarship. By the fall of the second year, Fellows should be sufficiently advanced in their research to apply to the legal teaching market. In addition to supporting Fellows on the teaching market, the second year of the program focuses on teaching experience and publication of the Fellow's research.
