Black Law Student Association wins Chapter of the Year Award at Midwest Regional Convention

The Black Law Students Association won the 2012-13 Chapter of the Year Award at the National Black Law Students Association Midwest Regional Convention in St. Louis, Mo. UW Law School’s BLSA chapter received the honor for outstanding achievements in programming, participation and leadership. To be considered for the award, chapters must demonstrate excellence in raising socio-political awareness, providing community service and offering education and career development, among other criteria.

Later this year, BLSA and other regional award recipients will compete with the best of NBLSA’s approximately 200 chapters for the National Chapter of the Year Award at the national convention in Atlanta, Ga.

BLSA, a chartered member of the National Black Law Students Association, serves the educational, social and professional interests of black law students. As part of the Law School’s Legal Education Opportunities Program, the group is active at UW Law School and within the broader campus community.
