Approximately 50 current and aspiring law faculty attended the 8th Annual Lutie Lytle Black Women Law Faculty Writing Workshop, hosted by Professor Tonya Brito at UW-Madison. Held each summer, the workshop offers professional development and networking opportunities for black women law scholars from around the country. It takes its name from Lutie A. Lytle, a black woman who in 1898 became the first female law professor in the United States—and perhaps the world.

UW Law School and the Institute for Legal Studies sponsored the 2014 workshop. It was co-sponsored by Thurgood Marshall Law School, St. Thomas University School of Law, and the Korematsu Center for Law and Equality at Seattle University School of Law.
