The State Bar of Wisconsin's Diversity Outreach Committee will offer a limited number of scholarships in the spring of 2009 to reimburse the cost of law school books. First year students of diverse backgrounds may apply for the reimbursement if they are in good academic standing and can demonstrate financial need. The reimbursements will not exceed $500 for student.

Guidelines

The Diversity Outreach Committee seeks to foster a racially and ethnically diverse State Bar and a legal profession that is conscious of differences, that is committed to valuing those differences and that is committed to ensuring equality while also valuing commonalties.

In keeping with the spirit of the Committee's mission, the State Bar of Wisconsin's Diversity Outreach Committee offers a limited number of reimbursement scholarships, not to exceed $500 per scholarship, to first year, second semester law students of diverse backgrounds in good standing and with financial need for use to cover required law book expenses for the second semester.  Specific scholarship amounts depend on the availability of funds and the number of applicants.

Application Guidelines
1.    Complete the official book reimbursement scholarship application form.
2.    Attach a one-paragraph statement (maximum length:  one page, double spaced) on how diversity has impacted your life.
3.    Attach a copy (ies) of your second-semester required law book proof(s) of purchase.
4.     Identify your required book purchases by circling each in ink.

Note:  All application materials will be forwarded to the State Bar of Wisconsin's Diversity Outreach Committee for review.  The Diversity Outreach Committee will notify students selected for its 2009 Diversity Reimbursement Book Scholarships by U.S. mail no later than March 16, 2009.
