The UW Latin American, Caribbean and Iberian Studies program (LACIS) and the UW Law School are hosting the University's first-ever Black Reparations Symposium on Wednesday, December 5, in Room 2260 of the Law School, from 6 to 8 p.m. The symposium, free and open to the public, is being held in conjunction with the campus visit of Randall Robinson, President of the TransAfrica Forum, who will speak on December 4 at Memorial Union Theatre as part of the Distinguished Lecture Series. The symposium, ?Black Reparations in the Diaspora: A Public Forum and Panel Discussion,? will feature guest lecturers Stan Woodard, the Midwest Director of Reparations, and attorney Yolanda Woodard. The panel discussion will be moderated by UW Law Professor Jane Larson. Other panelists will include UW Law School Assistant Professor Thomas Mitchell and Mr. Seydina Senghor, co-founder of Jubilee 2000 International Campaign. This event is also supported by the Madison Urban Ministry. The symposium is a part of year-long series of events organized by LACIS entitled ?Multiple Caribbeans: Performance, Displacement, Identities.?
