The Law School's Frank J. Remington Center has been named one of six semi-finalists for the 2002 Chancellor's Award for Departmental Excellence in Teaching. Three semi-finalists were chosen from large departments or programs and three from smaller ones, based on "pre-proposals" that they submitted. The Remington Center is included in the "smaller" category. The goal of the Chancellor's Award is to reward a campus unit that works in multiple ways to improve the teaching and learning environment. The competition will continue in April, when each of the semi-finalists has submitted an in-depth proposal. A winner will be chosen in each of the two categories (smaller and larger programs), and each winner will receive a substantial financial award "to continue the advancement of existing learning and teaching initiatives, as well as the creation of new ones."
