Law School alumnus David S. Ruder '57 is one of five individuals chosen by the University of Wisconsin-Madison to receive an honorary degree at the University's May 2002 Commencement ceremonies. Ruder, currently a professor at Northwestern University School of Law, is the former dean of that school. He served as chairman of the federal Securities and Exchange Commission from 1987 to 1989, and in his work with the SEC is credited with substantially influencing the legal system under which American capital markets must operate. Ruder is to receive his honorary degree at the University's Kohl Center Commencement on the evening of May 17, 2002.
