UW Law School Assistant Professor Catherine Albiston received the Law and Society Association's Dissertation Prize for the best dissertation of the year on a law and society subject, at the Association's conference in May 2002 in Vancouver. Albiston's dissertation, "The Institutional Context of Civil Rights: Mobilizing the Family and Medical Leave Act in the Courts and in the Workplace," was completed in 2001, in fulfillment of her Ph.D. degree from the University of California-Berkeley's Jurisprudence and Social Policy program. Albiston also holds M.A. and J.D. degrees, from Stanford University and UC-Berkeley, respectively.
