New York defense attorney David Feige, a 1991 graduate of the UW Law School, is leading the charge of criminal defense attorneys in New York who want to replace the standard police lineup with something they say is more reliable: the "sequential lineup," in which witnesses view suspects one at a time rather than all together. Social scientists say it reduces the chance a witness will identify an innocent person.

An article featuring Feige and his work on this issue appears in the New York Law Journal of October 4, 2002, currently online at http://www.law.com/jsp/article.jsp?id=1032128652952.
