The University of Wisconsin Law School's Restorative Justice Project was awarded a 2003 Certificate of Recognition by the Madison-Area Urban Ministry on February 7, 2003, in recognition of "outstanding restorative justice work in Wisconsin."

The Restorative Justice Project (RJP), based at the Law School's Frank J. Remington Center, gives law students an opportunity to work outside the adversarial processes which characterize most of the criminal justice system. The Project attempts to involve crime victims more fully in the system by providing mediation between the victims of crime and criminal offenders.

Project Director is Law School clinical professor Pete DeWind.  Since DeWind became director in Summer 2000, the Project has facilitated nineteen Victim Offender Conferences. For more information, see
