Three of the five individuals chosen to receive this year's UW-Madison Distinguished Alumni Award are graduates of the UW Law School. The Law School alumni are Tom Hefty, Class of 1973; John W. Rowe, Class of 1970; and Tommy Thompson, Class of 1966.
The awards were conferred by the Wisconsin Alumni Association in a ceremony on Friday, May 9.
Tom Hefty is retired president and CEO of the insurance company Cobalt Corporation; John Rowe is chairman and CEO of Exelon Corp., one of the nation's five largest electric utilities; and Tommy Thompson, former governor of Wisconsin, is Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Joining Hefty, Rowe and Thompson as winners of the award were Nancy J. Sennett, Managing Partner of Foley and Lardner in Milwaukee, and Dr. Bernard Easterday, retired Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine.
